The certificate program consists of six courses in the human services program for a total of 18 credit hours. Students transferring from other institutions are required to have a transcript analysis to ensure that the appropriate prerequisite requirements are met. Students' prior coursework will be evaluated by an advisor at the time of admission to the certificate program.

For completion of the certificate, students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 overall in all courses taken toward the certificate program, a grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses and courses applied to the certificate, and complete a minimum of six hours in upper-level courses required for the certificate through courses offered by Old Dominion University. Transfer courses require approval of the certificate coordinator. Non-Degree seeking students must have an Associate Degree or higher, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 overall.
