The minor in public health offers students an understanding of core areas and principles of public health, specifically global health and health disparities. The minor focuses on culture and diversity among different physical and social communities. The minor may be an ideal fit for students in various majors including biology, nursing, dental hygiene, sociology, political science, exercise science, etc. Graduates with a minor in public health will possess knowledge and skills necessary to prevent disease, prolong life, and promote health.
Requirements
PUBH 200 with a grade of C or higher is a prerequisite for the minor and must be completed before enrolling in any 300- or 400-level required course. It is not included in the calculation of the grade point average for the minor. Requirements for the minor are as follows:

For completion of the minor, students must have a minimum overall cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in all courses specified as a requirement for the minor exclusive of prerequisite courses and complete a minimum of six hours in upper-level courses in the minor requirement through courses offered by Old Dominion University.
